2012-13 CBS Schedule Predictions

CBS is the network that makes the fewest changes in its schedule.  This year, though, I think that it will need to open up a second hour of comedy on Thursdays.  By genre, it should look like this:

MONDAY
8- 2 Comedies
9- 2 Comedies
10- 1 Drama

TUESDAY
8- 1 Drama
9- 1 Drama
10- 1 Drama

WEDNESDAY
8- 1 Reality
9- 1 Drama
10- 1 Drama

THURSDAY
8- 2 Comedies
9- 2 Comedies
10- 1 Drama

FRIDAY
8- 1 Drama or Reality
9- 1 Drama
10- 1 Drama

SUNDAY
7- 1 News
8- 1 Reality
9- 1 Drama
10- 1 Drama

Reality
This is simple: Survivor and TAR are staying put and Undercover Boss may go to the midseason depending on numbers from the later genres.  The news shows are also not moving.

Comedies
On this schedule, CBS has room for 8 comedies.  Given that they usually premiere two new comedies in the fall, that would leave room for six comedies (four of them anchors) from this year on the main schedule.  They would be:
HIMYM- ANCHOR
2BG- ANCHOR
2.5 Men- ANCHOR
Mike and Molly
TBBT- ANCHOR
ROE

That would leave Rob out, but possibly renewed in case something else fails.

Of the anchors, one wants the two highest rated to be 9 PM anchors.  I would have TBBT and 2.5 Men be at 9 PM, giving Two Broke Girls one more year to grow.  It is easiest to keep Big Bang on Thursday and Men and Mother on Monday.  Therefore, Two Broke Girls could take over 8 PM on Thursdays.
Comedies:
M8: How I Met Your Mother
M8:30
M9: Two and a Half Men
M9:30
T8: Two Broke Girls
T8:30
T9: Big Bang Theory
T9:30

Now it comes down to compatibility for what to put where.  CBS has a pilot called Super Fun Night about nerdy women that would fit excellently with The Big Bang Theory.  Put that at 9:30 on Thursday.  That leaves only one spot open for a new comedy.  I would guess that it go to Partners, a show about the relationship between two architects, one straight and one gay.  Another candidate would be My Idiotic Twenties, about a man having to work next to his ex-girlfriend after a tough breakup.

I would suggest putting Partners after Two Broke Girls, but that would make two new shows on one night and none on the other.  Therefore, I will put Partners at 8:30 on Mondays, leaving the other two in their current positions.
Comedies:
M8: How I Met Your Mother
M8:30 Partners
M9: Two and a Half Men
M9:30 Mike & Molly
T8: Two Broke Girls
T8:30 Rules of Engagement
T9: Big Bang Theory
T9:30 Super Fun Night

Dramas
CBS has 11 or 12 (depending on a fall run for Undercover Boss) for dramas.  The network has already renewed nine dramas for next year.  Assuming that they premiere three new dramas up front, something would have to go to midseason duty.  I guess that Undercover Boss will premiere in the midseason, but that still leaves the question of CSI: Miami.  If renewed, it or something else would either go to midseason or Saturdays.
Shows that are staying put:
Hawaii 5-0 (Mondays @ 10)
NCIS (Tuesdays @ 8)
NCIS: LA (Tuesdays @ 9)
Criminal Minds (Wednesdays @ 9)
CSI (Wednesdays @ 10)
Blue Bloods (Fridays @ 10)

'Homeless Shows'
Person of Interest
The Mentalist
The Good Wife

CBS is probably hoping to develop Person of Interest into a big hit, so they should put it after their Thursday comedies, at 10 PM.  Therefore, here is CBS' schedule so far:

Monday
How I Met Your Mother / Partners
Two and a Half Men / Mike and Molly
Hawaii 5-0

Tuesday
NCIS
NCIS: LA
Undecided

Wednesday
Survivor
Criminal Minds
CSI

Thursday
Two Broke Girls / Rules of Engagement
Big Bang Theory / Super Fun Night
Person of Interest

Friday
Undecided
Undecided
Blue Bloods

Sunday
60 Minutes
The Amazing Race
Undecided
Undecided

CBS should leave The Good Wife on Sundays (but at 10) to garner one more season of critical acclaim.  So that two new shows do not have to go back to back, The Mentalist, an established show, should move to Fridays at 8.  That leaves Tuesdays at 10, Fridays at 9, and Sundays at 9 for new dramas.  They should put their favorite in the best position, Tuesdays at 10, and their second favorite on Sundays.

As for the pilots, I think that they will want another cop show to follow the two NCISs.  I think that Elementary, based on Arthur Conan Doyle's book is the likely option.  I see them putting an untitled project, by Ralph Lamb, about a former cowboy being a policeman in Las Vegas on Fridays (police oriented night).  Finally, they will want a legal drama to go on Sundays at 9 (as a lead in to The Good Wife).  The only legal drama in their pilots is Baby Big Shot.  That show features a poor woman using street smarts to compete in a high-end law firm.

THE SCHEDULE
Monday
How I Met Your Mother / Partners
Two and a Half Men / Mike and Molly
Hawaii 5-0

Tuesday
NCIS
NCIS: LA
Elementary

Wednesday
Survivor
Criminal Minds
CSI

Thursday
Two Broke Girls / Rules of Engagement
Big Bang Theory / Super Fun Night
Person of Interest

Friday
The Mentalist
Ralph Lamb Show
Blue Bloods

Saturday
Repeats
Repeats
48 Hours Mystery

Sunday
60 Minutes
The Amazing Race
Baby Big Shot
The Good Wife

The two most likely changes (besides guessing the pilots wrong) would be the two cop pilots switching spots and CSI: Miami going on Sundays, with Baby Big Shot not being ordered.
